It’s not often we say this, but we’re almost lost for words after visiting The Manor, in Greasby
From the exterior The Manor is charming and quaint, sympathetically restored with its original facade cherished and celebrated. The Manor is surrounded by outdoor seating and comfy courtyards, with fire pits and speakers ready to set the tone for an evening with family and friends. Inside, the decor is impeccable. A sense of grandeur with a warm and homely feel. Chic choices in the soft furnishings and finishes with a bold balance of colour throughout.
The cuisine is gastropub at its finest. A smorgasbord of world cuisine; from a Traditional Scouse Stew to Miso Chilli and Lemon Roast Chicken with Sesame, Chilli and Yuzu Soy-glazed Greens, which was my first choice when scouting the menu.
Before this however, we chose a starter of Tacos for the Table, a crisp bite filled with spiced chicken chilli and coriander salsa, with a spicy citrus dressing. These were swiftly followed by my soufflé of dreams, Twice-baked Quicke’s Cheddar Cheese Soufflé, with rich Parmesan cream. Light as air and as delicate as can be. My partner in eating crime, Jamie, opted for the Crayfish and Prawn Salad. A refreshingly generous portion for a starter salad, Jamie assured me it was every bite delicious as he mopped up the Bloody Mary sauce.
My main course choice of Miso Chilli and Lemon Roast Chicken was everything it promised to be; beautifully tender and moist chicken, coated with a crisp and tasty skin. The accompanying greens were a generous serving and added additional acidity for extra oomph. Jamie chose the Marinated Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo: ribbons of homemade pasta tossed in a dreamy cream and garlic sauce. Once again, each and every morsel from both dishes were lovingly mopped up.
Not everyone loves a pudding, but we certainly do. I chose the Chocolate Bombe with Passionfruit Gel and Passionfruit Ice Cream for me, while Jamie opted for The Manor Sundae. The Chocolate Bombe, as you can imagine, comes with a hot chocolate sauce to pour all over the top. Upon tucking into my bombe, it became clear once more just how clever the chefs who created this menu are; the chocolate is rich and powerful, but the passionfruit cuts right through to cool your mouth and provide a little respite.
The Sundae stood tall and proud, crowned with honeycomb crumb atop a Chantilly cream mountain. Hiding beneath were pools of salted caramel, sticky toffee pudding pieces and honeycomb ice cream. Divine.
If it isn't clear, we had the best time. The food is delicious, creative and comforting. The staff are the ultimate professionals and the surroundings a delight.
