As the crisp autumn air settles in and the leaves begin to change, October offers the perfect opportunity for a reset. It’s that time of year when we can pause, reflect and recalibrate before diving into the final stretch.
Think of October as an “autumn” clean for your life - using the time to have a fantastic last three months. Here's how you can use October to refresh your career, finances, wellness, home, and lifestyle.
Career: Reassess and Realign
Reflect on your achievements so far this year—what have you accomplished, and what goals are you still to achieve?
Revisit your career plan / KPIs and identify what you want to achieve. It might be time to update your CV, refresh your LinkedIn, or even start networking. Your career is in your hands. Take the lead.
Set clear, actionable goals for the next few months. Whether it’s a promotion, learning a specific skill, or simply increasing your productivity, a little planning now can help you finish the year on a high.
Finance: Pull it back!
With Christmas just around the corner, October is a crucial time for financial reflection. Review your spending habits and identify areas where you can cut back or save. What you spend on shows a clear sense of your values and the things you love.
Check direct debits, standing orders or subscriptions you no longer use - those gym memberships or streaming services you’ve forgotten about. Create a budget that covers the last quarter of the year, factoring in any Christmas expenses.

Wellness: Visualise yourself three months from now
October is an ideal time to get healthy ahead of Christmas. I’ve had a mad summer! So many weddings, moving houses, lots of food and drinks. I’ve stuck to my fitness but I’m looking forward to healthy food.
Start by reassessing your daily routines - are you getting enough sleep, eating well, and moving regularly? Steps are a great way to get fit and listen to a podcast at the same time. I love walking in the crisp autumn leaves.
Consider taking up a new form of exercise. I love Pilates and have started at Studio34 in Alderley. For your mental health, try journaling or practising gratitude daily. Meditate once per day to sit with your thoughts. Scary I know!
Home: declutter!
Go through your wardrobe and donate clothes you no longer wear, clear out that kitchen drawer that’s full of random bits and bobs, and tidy up your workspace to create a more productive environment.
