A Cornish village has been named among the coolest places to live, according to a new survey.
Polperro took the top spot and was named the coolest place to live in the UK by health and well-being brand Naturecan.
Locations were ranked according to the number of independent shops per head of population, the range of cultural events, how ‘Instagrammable’ were the best features and their popularity as a location for films and TV shows.
Naturecan polled 5,000 people with panels in each county and you can use the map to look at the top 50 list.
What did Naturecan have to say about Polperro?
Polperro came out on top was described as “one of Cornwall’s prettiest villages”.
Naturecan explained that it “sits in a ravine with shops and restaurants clustered around the harbour.”
Even if you haven’t visited the village, you might have spotted it on the TV as it’s where popular series such as the BBC’s Hairy Bikers and ITV’s Echo Beach have been filmed.
Eagle-eyed TV viewers may have also recognised parts of Polperro featured in the backdrop of the new Beyond Paradise TV series, that is based in the fictional Devon village of Shipton Abbott, although the majority of the filming took place in Cornwall.
Naturecan also described the fishing village as a “popular hang-out for artists is the perfect palace to watch the sunset, grab some drinks and relax”.
The CBD health business added: “From Looe Island to the Duloe Stone Circle, Heritage Museums and so much more. This is the perfect destination for a quick summer getaway.”
