A beach in Cornwall has been named among the best UK secret beaches for a bit of peace and quiet in 2024, according to a new list.

Lantic Bay was featured on the list from The Independent among eight others.

Discussing the creation of the list the publication wrote: "The summer months are the most attractive time to visit the British coastline, but also the busiest.

"With that in mind, we’ve found some UK beaches a little further off the beaten coast path."

What was said about Lantic Bay?

The Independent described Lantic Bay as a "gem" and praised it for its secluded nature.

They wrote: "If you’re looking for a hidden spot on the Cornish coastline, Lantic Bay is a shingle beach at the bottom of a steep path.

"Come prepared for an uneven walk through farmland, down some steps and a slope – safe in the knowledge the hike is worth it for the secret beach you’ll reach.

"You’ll find this gem off the South West Coast Path, located between Lansallos and Polruan."

The beach has also earned positive reviews on Tripadvisor, with a 4.5/5 score from 87 ratings.

One person wrote: "As everyone else mentions the walk down isn't easy but that is the very reason this place is so special, probably the best beach I've visited in the UK and the weather played its part stunning for October."

Another posted: "A real hidden gem, completely off the beaten track (literally, a good mile walk down steep & rocky path), but well worth it because the beach is unspoilt and picturesque.

"It's a mixture of sand & shingles, with almost clear water (you'd almost think you were in the Med, if it wasn't for the freezing water!) It's a great for snorkelling too, but try to plan for a sunny day if possible! Can highly recommend."
