In January of this year, when Dr Lewis Sumner returned to his Cotswold roots and set up the Cotswold Chiropractic Centre, the ambition was more than just coming home and starting his own practice, as important as both those ambitions were.
Central to Lewis setting up Cotswold Chiropractic Centre is ensuring that the business becomes part of the fabric of the community, especially with regards to wellness and good health, both physical good health as well as good mental health.
Said Lewis, who grew up in Shipston-on-Stour: “The Cotswolds is recognised as an area of outstanding natural beauty, I would like to make it an area of outstanding natural health, too."
A big part of achieving those goals is Lewis’ approach, which is about ensuring that patients, especially new patients, enjoy the best possible experience from the moment they arrive at the practice.
“We have considered every aspect of a patient’s visit, from the colour schemes in the reception area and throughout the practice, to how we welcome people,” said Lewis.
“I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment for all of my patients, where they can feel comfortable expressing their concerns and asking questions.
“We are all about helping people on their journey to good health and that journey starts when you first step inside the practice.”
Having qualified, Lewis went to work at the highly regarded Epoch Centre in Lincoln, a large and busy practice where he worked for two years under the internationally renowned Dr Tom Waller. Dr Waller continues to coach and mentor Lewis.
Lewis first became interested in becoming a chiropractor as a teenage table tennis player. He was suffering from back pain and a club member, a leading chiropractor, was able to treat Lewis successfully.
“There was a kink in my spine which he adjusted, and almost immediately I was moving better and sleeping better.”
Inspired by that positive experience Lewis is a firm believer that with the right support the body, in certain cases, can heal itself.
“My ultimate goal is to empower you to take control of your own health and wellbeing. We have a holistic approach. We first identify the problem and then we devise a plan to fix the problem.”
To help identify causes of any issues you may have, the practice has an X-ray machine, a piece of equipment which isn’t necessarily found in many chiropractors, while a radiologist can be consulted if a second opinion is required.
Your first consultation is also half price, which would also include any X-rays, if required. As part of the initial consultation Lewis will also carry out a Heart Rate Variability scan (HRV) and a free posture assessment, too.
“Overall, my passion for chiropractic care stems from my desire to help others lead healthier, happier lives. I look forward to meeting you and working together to achieve your personal health goals,” said Lewis.
