Judges were impressed by high quality finish of customer-centric changes
A Devon hair business has beaten off major national names to scoop a highly coveted industry prize for its salon refurbishment.
Energy Hair has been presented with the prestigious Design Salon Award for their outstanding salon refurbishment in 2019. Thousands of national salons including Gatsby & Miller and Mark David were also competing for this highly sought-after award.
Energy Hair owner Nathan Plumridge said: “After expanding last year we’ve never looked back and feel so privileged that our beautiful salon has not only been enjoyed by our fantastic clients, but recognised by experts we hold in such high regard.”
He continued: “We continue to review and improve our customer experience every day to make sure our salon environment is one that makes everyone feel good, which in these difficult times is so important.
“Thank you to everyone that has supported us from day one, 22 years ago, since the refurb and during this tricky year.”
The Energy salon refurbishment wowed judges, successfully meeting their criteria which demanded a high-quality finish, innovative yet practical design, bespoke features and consistent brand image.

Not only did the salon score highly on this, the refurb also more than doubled the size of the space, providing additional retail areas and front desk, 12 additional client styling stations, a conference room, a stage presentation area perfect for in house hair training and events.
The goal for the design of the salon was to put the client experience first. Energy Hair set out to create a luxurious space to make them feel special when visiting the salon. Large floor to ceiling glass windows and mood lighting by Amos Lighting at Darts Farm, Topsham was installed to provide a light and bright atmosphere.
Bespoke furniture was designed by Liberty Shopfitting, combined with styling chairs and basins created in made to order colours from Salon Ambience. Every detail was considered ensuring the warm, aspirational and friendly feel of the Energy Hair.
The additional salon entrance and larger floor space that was achieved in the refurb also made social distancing guidelines easy to follow for Energy Hair this year. This meant minimal disruption and ensured clients could continue to receive the luxurious five-star experience they were used to in a safe way.
Looking ahead to 2021, Energy continues to focus on client experience, will launch a new website and will partner with the Green Salon Collective to enable salon sustainability by recycling absolutely all salon waste, even hair.
