A South Essex beach has been named among the best-kept secrets in the UK and a quieter alternative to more busier coastline spots.
Shoeburyness has been featured in a new list from the Telegraph, going through the best options for those wanting to avoid the UK's busiest beaches this summer.
The Telegraph says: "So before you resign yourself to spending the busiest days of the summer at home, pack up the cool bag, grab the bucket and spade and make a break for one of these appealing alternatives just a pebble’s throw from the crowded big hitters."
Shoeburyness is seen as a more peaceful option compared to the nearby juggernaut of Southend.

What did The Telegraph say about Shoeburyness?
The Telegraph was complimentary about Shoeburyness which is "just three miles from the mayhem that is Southend in summer".
Its two Blue Flag beaches were a point of praise in particular.
They added: "Its East beach is the nicest and popular with local paddleboarders and kite surfers, thanks to its long strand of sand. On weekends there is a snack wagon for grabbing a cup of tea, but not much else, so bring a picnic."
In terms of a place to stay the newspaper recommended Roslin Beach Hotel, which is around a ten-minute drive away from Shoeburyness.
It's a "vintage-style spot" with "gorgeous sea-view rooms" as a selling point.
Shoebury East Beach has also been well-received on Tripadvisor, with it earning a 4.5/5 score from 209 ratings.
One reviewer said: "We were looking for a bit of a quieter beach away from the amusement park and this was the perfect place.
"Clean toilets and good parking. It was just what we wanted."
Another put: "Beautiful weather, and looks to have a nice beach and sea, nothing much else, but good if you want a day out to swim and sunbathe."
