Baftas 2024: How to watch on TV and where are they held?

The 2024 British Academy Film Awards (also known as the Baftas) are set to take place soon, with the ceremony honouring the best of cinema from 2023.

Various films, directors, actors, editors, composers and production staff are up for awards in a vast range of categories.

The likes of Barbie, Oppenheimer, Poor Things, The Holdovers, All of Us Strangers and Killers of the Flower Moon are up for multiple accolades.

Here's all you need to know on the Baftas for 2024 including how to watch on TV and who is hosting the ceremony.

Where to watch the 2024 Baftas on TV

The Baftas ceremony will be shown on BBC One between 7pm and 9pm on Sunday, February 18.

As usual, there is a small delay between the live ceremony taking place and the TV broadcast.

Who is hosting the 2024 Baftas?

David Tennant, who is known for his roles in Doctor Who, Broadchurch and Good Omens, is set to host the Baftas for the first time.

Speaking on the responsibility, the 52-year-old said: "I am delighted to have been asked to host the EE BAFTA Film Awards and help celebrate the very best of this year's films and the many brilliant people who bring them to life.” 

Elsewhere in the show, Sophie Ellis-Bextor will perform her song 'Murder on the Dancefloor' which saw a resurgence in popularity after it was used in Saltburn, where stars Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi and Rosamund Pike have been nominated in acting categories.

Who is nominated in the Bafta EE Rising Star Award?

Alongside the usual categories you would see at many film ceremonies, there will also be the EE Rising Star Award, which acknowledges new talents in the acting industry.

The nominees for 2024 are:

  • Ayo Edebiri
  • Jacob Elordi
  • Mia McKenna-Bruce
  • Sophie Wilde

Previous winners of the award include Daniel Kaluuya, Emma Mackey, Tom Holland, John Boyega, Juno Temple, Tom Hardy and James McAvoy.
