Who doesn’t love a bit of rock n’ roll? Since 2009, this friendly, welcoming venue has been a must-visit for locals, students and tourists alike. By day it’s the ideal place to relax and enjoy a crisp craft beer or cider and by evening it’s the perfect location to socialise, relish some alternative, ska or punk live music performances and let your hair down.
Inventive monthly specials set tastebuds tingling, while their classic pub food keeps hearts warm and stomachs full. What truly sets The Lady Luck apart, however, is their large variety of vegan and vegetarian options. Their chefs love concocting new dishes that never fail to keep customers returning for more. One of the team’s personal favourites, and a must-try for guests, is the homemade vegan mushroom and ale pie, served with mash, peas and gravy. Those on the hunt for the ultimate burger must try the delectable vegan burgers here – a close personal highlight for head chef and kitchen manager Gemma Porter.
‘We introduce new specials at least twice a month,’ Gemma shares. ‘Just recently, this included a vegan carbonara with homemade vegan pancetta and we’re on the brink of launching the New York Deli Dog – a vegan hot dog loaded with American mustard, sauerkraut, gherkins and street-cart onions. All of us in the kitchen truly love nothing more than having the opportunity to showcase our creative talents.’
The Lady Luck team are excited for the arrival of sunnier days and have been hard at work in the courtyard garden making sure it looks great and is ready for warmer weather. Visitors can expect the debut of seasonal specials on the menu, such as the vegan Mexican fiesta salad. The dish, comprised of fajita-spiced chicken strips and roasted red peppers, laid atop a large fresh salad and accompanied by crisp tortilla chips, vegan sour cream, fresh lime and coriander, really hits the spot.
It’s perfect to enjoy with a glass of wine (all of which are now vegan-friendly) as you share laughter and natter with friends and family. It would certainly seem, here at least, that lady luck is well and truly on your side! ladyluck.co.uk
