A Lancashire city has been named among the UK’s best small cities for a city break in a new list by Which?
The consumer group ran a survey of almost 4,000 Which? members to find the best city breaks in the UK.
The results show the best large, medium and small-sized cities in the UK for a staycation with places across the UK featuring such as Durham, Glasgow, Edinburgh and more.

What did Which? say about Lancaster?
The survey results show that Lancaster received a customer score of 67%.
The average hotel price is £92 according to the data and the city earned a 2/5 star rating for food and drink.
Accommodation was rated higher at 4/5 stars while cultural sights were rated 3/5 stars.
Shopping and ease of getting around were both given the lower score of 2/5 stars but the city earned a 4/5 star rating for lack of crowds.
Parking was given a 2/5 stars rating and value for money earned a 3/5 star rating.

To get these results, Which? asked 3,967 members “to rate UK cities and towns they’d visited for leisure purposes and stayed in for at least one night in the past two years (since April 2022).” It received 7,187 reports of experiences.

When it comes to taking a short break in the UK, Liverpool was named the best large UK city to visit with a customer score of 84%.
Bath received a customer score of 82%, making it the best medium-sized city in the UK for a short break.
Wells in Somerset was named the best small UK city for a short break after earning a customer score of 86%.
