A total of 2,000 poppies are on display for people to see at the Bishop’s Palace
Visitors to the Bishop’s Palace have this week been greeted by the stunning sight of 2,000 metal poppies, which have been planted in The Quiet Garden in time for Remembrance weekend.
They were originally planted in 2018, when there were 7,986, one to mark each life lost of servicemen from Somerset during World War One - but some were sold in 2018 to raise money for SSAFA and The Wells Branch of the Royal British Legion. It was agreed that the remaining poppies should be kept in order to continue to display them inside the grounds.
Originally made by local school children, they will be on display in the garden until 12 November.
